Use Cufflinks

,

Common cuff links

Cuff links are an accessory that men don't often have to deal with. They are usually encountered when renting a tux and sometimes when given to you by a relative or an older person who wears suits. Cuff links are a small accessory that has a big impact in the look of a suit or dress shirt.

Instructions

1. Pick up a cufflink. There is a basic cufflink with a little circle connected with a piece of metal that leads to a larger decorated circle. There are also ones that have a hinged back. The hinged back are more common than the other type, but you can easily use either style.

2. Turn the hinged cuff link so that the back is a straight line (no raised parts). Put the dress shirt on. There should be an opening for the cufflink on the shirt cuff. The cuff is the band of cloth at the wrist of the shirt.

3. Push the straight cuff link through the hole of the arm cuff so that the decorative area is facing away from you, and it goes through both holes in the cuff. With the non-hinged type, just push the smaller of the circles through the cuff.

4. With the hinged cuff link, you will need to push the hing out to keep the cuff link in the cuff. With the common cuff link, the smaller circle keeps the cuff link in.
