Hawaiian shirts should be a size larger than what you normally wear.
Traditional Hawaiian shirts are made to be worn loosely. That's good news for large people who would otherwise have a hard time making those loud, colorful shirts fit well. If you know the size you wear for a regular shirt, you should not have a problem figuring out what size to wear in a Hawaiian shirt.
Instructions
1. Use the tape measure to measure around your chest area and belly to get your current measurements. Also, measure how long the shirt needs to be to cover your stomach.
2. Consult the size chart on an online store that sells Hawaiian shirts. One store, the Hawaiian Shirt Store, had an actual chest size of 40 translating to a small in a Hawaiian shirt. A chest size of 52 translates to an extra large Hawaiian shirt.
3. Order a shirt one size larger than what you normally wear. Even if the shirt is too large, it will still fit in with Hawaiian fashion and cover your stomach.
