Open the Back of a Wristwatch
Wristwatches are made in many different styles, shapes and sizes. These accessories can be quite inexpensive-around $10-or they can cost as much as a brand new automobile. No matter what your style, most wristwatches run on batteries and these batteries do need to be replaced when they wear out. Typically the only way to replace them is by removing the back of the watch and retrieving the battery. Not all wristwatch backs are removable, but most modestly priced watches are.
Instructions
1. Locate any screws on the back of the watch. These will be very small if you have a watch with a screwed back. Some watches do not have screws on the back and must be pried off with a small flathead screwdriver, according to WatchMaterials.com.
2. Select the appropriate screwdriver to remove the screws. Because the screws are so small, no standard size screwdriver will be able to remove them. You must purchase a set of small tipped screwdrivers that have a #0 size screwdriver or smaller, such as 1.4 mm.
3. Unscrew all of the screws and set them aside. Be careful where you put them as these screws are very small and you can lose them easily.
4. Take a small flathead screwdriver and pry apart the back of the watch if it is not screwed on. Fit the head of the screwdriver beneath the watch back and start to twist. Be careful to not scratch the metal. The watch back should pop right off as you pry.
