Ribbon is a great addition to plain children's clothing.
Ribbon tag jeans and shirts are clothes with ribbons looped at the bottom hems. While these clothes may appear complex to create, they are actually simple in design and add a custom touch to clothing. When working with different colors of ribbon, the best thread color to use on the project is white as most of the ribbons will contain white in some degree.
Instructions
1. Cut the jeans to the desired length or remove the hem from the bottom of the shirt.
2. Fold and pin the 2 inch cloth ribbon over the bottom of the fabric to form a new hem. Be sure to line up the edges of the ribbon with the side seams of the pants and fold the ribbons under so they will not unravel.
3. Straight stitch the ribbon onto the clothes 1/4 inch from the top.
4. Pin the various ribbons to the bottom of the jeans. The ribbons must be looped at the bottom so both ends are inside the bottom of the jeans.
5. Tuck the edges of each ribbon in and fold the ribbon edges so every side of each ribbon is folded into the pants. If all the ends are correctly tucked, the ribbons should come to a point. Pin each one in place.
6. Sew the ribbons in place with a straight stitch, following the point of each one to ensure all the sides are completely sealed inside.
