Make Afro Curls With Regular Hair

,

Straight hair can be styled into an afro.

Just because you have straight hair does not mean that you can't step out on occasion wearing an Afro. You just need to be able to curl and fluff your hair in ways that will allow it to be worn with a daring picked out look. It doesn't matter if you want to adopt the style for good or for just a weekend, the Afro can be a hairdo in your style chest. Be creative and look your best!

Instructions

1. Wash and conditioner your hair. If you have very straight hair look for a volumizing shampoo and a conditioner that promotes curls. While the conditioner is in your hair use your fingers to curl your hair. Don't comb or slick your hair flat on your head. Your goal is curly bouncy hair not slick hair. Rinse out all conditioner.

2. Fluff your hair by towel drying it. Do not completely dry. You will want to get rid of excess dripping water but you want to keep it damp. Once again use your fingers to fluff your hair and hair promote a curl pattern -- but make sure you don't create tangles.

3. Hand part your hair into small segments. If you desire a curly Afro you will want to make the segments small, around one inch square. If you want a large fluffy and loose Afro make the segments around two inches square. Don't use a comb to part your hair. You want it to stay as fluffy and curly as possible.

4. Roll your hair with the smallest rollers you can find. If you want a loose Afro, the curlers can be medium-sized but if you use small curlers your hair can be fluffed out and made loose later. For now it should be rolled with small rollers. Carefully roll the hair from end to root, taking care to prevent the ends becoming frayed or tangled.

5. Dry for at least two hours. Your hair can be blown dry to speed up the process but only use low heat and hold the dryer away from your hair. A hot dryer held close to the hair will only straighten it.

6. Remove the hair rollers and fluff out your hair by hand. Style it how you would like it to look. If you want it loose, use your fingers to pull the curls out and fluff up your hair. If you want a tighter curled look, simply pat your hair with both hands and shape it as you work with it.
