Most people are familiar with seeing traditional long ties or bow ties on men during formal occasions in contemporary society, but choosing a more retro neck accessory grants you a change from such typical looks. For example, the bulldogger tie is a V-shaped tie consisting of silk or satin that wraps around the neck, underneath the collar, creating a cummerbund effect for your throat, as Jack Morgan explains in "Transition Voice." Unlike tying a bow tie by hand, fastening a bulldogger is completely straightforward.
Instructions
1. Raise the collar of your tuxedo shirt upwards. Stand in front of a mirror.
2. Wrap the bulldogger necktie around your neck so that the front of it (the V-shape) is at the back of your neck and the straps are right in front of you.
3. Slide the hook end of one strap into the loop. Pull the slider so that the strap decreases in length and the bulldogger tie fits snugly against your neck. The fit should feel snug but not uncomfortably tight.
4. Pull the V-shaped end of the bulldogger tie so that the bottom point of the V is in the direct middle of your shirt, in line with your buttons. Pull your collar down so the collar points rest on top of the bulldogger tie.
