Check For Converse Authenticity

,

Purchase your Converse sneakers from a credible retailer.

In 1908, Marquis Mills Converse founded a rubber shoe company. Since then Converse sneakers have been known as high-quality shoes that are versatile, cool and sporty. They are an extraordinary product that has outlasted many other brands of shoes. Due to their widespread popularity, however, many people have attempted to produce knockoffs that cost just as much but are not made with the same quality and care. It is important to know the difference between authentic Converse sneakers and their counterfeit replicas.

Instructions

1. Closely examine the shoe in question. The fake shoes will look approximately 90 percent like an authentic pair. But there are defects that should be easy to spot.

2. Look at the logo. This is usually an area where a fake will be quite obvious. An authentic pair of Converse sneakers will have a circular logo on the side of the shoe. It includes the words "Converse All-Star" with a blue star in the center. They also have a standard Chuck Taylor signature. The lettering is bold, black and clearly visible. The writing is easily read, straight and even. There is no sign of wear or fading. A fake Converse sneaker might have words incorrectly spelled, lettering that is smudged or dull looking, or lack one of the defining features: star, signature or wording.

3. Examine the "All-Star" tags. Converse sneakers have an "All-Star" tag on the heel of the shoe. An authentic shoe will have clear writing that is correctly spelled as well as bold and even. A fake shoe's tags will look dull, unclear, fuzzy or say something different.

4. Pick up the shoe and examine how the product was made. Remember that Converse sneakers are made from high-quality rubber and fabric. They are stitched together and never glued, so if the sneakers are glued together they are not authentic. Check the stitching and the paint used on the rubber as well. Authentic Converse sneakers will have even, straight stitches that are neat and professionally done. The paint on the rubber will also be bold, clear, straight and crisp looking. It should never be uneven or dull. If it is, the shoes are fakes.

5. Look for company retail tags. Authentic Converse sneakers come with a specific tag stating their authenticity. Authentic sneakers should be sold with a Converse shoebox that displays the logo. The shoe itself should have official Converse tags: a logo and a brief note about the company. If the sneakers come in any other kind of packaging, they are not authentic.
