Design Lotion Labels

,

Labels are an essential part in marketing lotions but designing them doesn't have to be difficult.

Designing labels for your lotion bottles does not have to be difficult but it is necessary. Labels give the look of professionalism -- a must if you intend to sell your lotion and make money. The labels can be as intricate or simple as you like, just be sure they convey the image you want to project to your potential consumer. Keep in mind if you are giving these bottles out to friends, a professional label and quality ingredients can turn a hobby into a full-time business.

Instructions

1. Open the word processing program on your computer, such as Microsoft Windows. Windows users select "labels" under the "envelope and labels" function.

2. Upload your company logo or other identifiable image. If the lotion is being sold in stores, be sure you have a company logo in place. If the lotion is to be handed out to friends and family, add a picture -- you making the lotion, family pet, or other unique image. The image or logo is typically placed in the middle of the label where the customer can easily see it.

3. Select the font and colors for your label. Depending on your logo, you can customize colors and designs. Keep in mind your desired consumer and tailor your label accordingly. If you are giving the lotion as gifts, you can keep the label free of bold graphics and colors.

4. Include the necessary information, such as ingredients and the scent. Regardless of whether or not you intend to sell the lotion or give it out to friends and family, always include the ingredients. Many people have skin allergies or sensitivities to certain fragrance and ingredients found in body lotions. Ingredients can be listed on the side of the label in small font. List ingredients from most to least amount.

5. Add other important information. If your lotion is organic or contains natural ingredients, include this on the label.

6. Change the font size to fit the lotion label. Select the text, then chose the font size in the tool bar, hit "enter" to change the size.

7. Print off the label onto vinyl or sticker paper. Vinyl paper is ideal because moisture from the lotion will not cause the ink to run, unlike self-adhesive sticker paper. Vinyl also creates a more professional look.
