10 Fashion Styling Tips for lady

,

Tips for Petites

Would you like to look better in your clothes? Try these simple fashion styling tips for petites to help you appear longer and leaner. It’s all about creating the illusions of more and less – more height and less bulk. Next time you’re dressing for your job or to go out on the town, work some magic and create your own illusions.

1. Dress In One Color:

Dress all in one color from your top to your shoes. Don’t forget to match your tights or stockings to your outfit too. Dark colors slim, so try black, navy, charcoal, burgundy, deep green, or purple.

2. Wear Clothes That Fit Well

Wear garments that fit you well. Fitted or semi-fitted clothing looks better on petites than loose-fitting apparel. Avoid garments that have a lot of design ease because all that extra fabric adds bulk and can make short women look heavier than they really are.

3. Select Garments With Vertical Lines:

Select clothes with vertical lines. They don’t need to be striped. Vertical seam lines, such as princess seams, will do the trick.

4. Choose V-Shape:

Choose tops and jackets with V-shaped or U-shaped necklines. These neckline styles aid in creating the illusion of height.

5. Wear High Heels

Wear high heels. It’s the easiest way to add height. Pumps and sling-backs are terrific, but avoid shoes with ankle straps. The strap breaks up the desirable vertical line, and makes the wearer appear shorter.
If you're worried about comfort, try high heels, such as the Cole Haan brand with air technology to cushion your feet.

6. Avoid Bulky Garments

Watch out for bulky or highly textured fabrics. There’s no need to avoid texture completely, but stay away from fabrics with a lot of loft. We want to appear taller, not broader. For sweaters, thin works better than thick.

7. Avoid Oversized Handbags

Stay away from huge handbags. Oversized bags are so big that they can seem to overwhelm short women. Select purses of medium size instead so that your bag will be in proportion to your smaller frame.

8. Skip Minis

Skip the mini-skirts and mini dresses. Although minis look great on women with long, slender legs, they don’t have the same effect for shorter women. The hem of a mini-skirt worn by a petite woman falls across a thick part of the thigh, making it more noticeable and making shorter legs look even shorter.

9. Keep Belts Narrow

Keep belts slim and match them to your outfit if you want to wear a belt. Wide or contrasting belts cut the figure in half and break up the vertical illusion that we want to achieve.

10. Choose Pants With Straight Legs

Wear jeans and pants with straight legs. To keep a slim line, choose pants without cuffs, bulky pockets, or pleats.

Clean Sterling Silver Jewelry

Clean Sterling Silver Jewelry

It's normal for your sterling silver jewelry pieces to become tarnished and discolored. However, you can restore their beauty easily. Follow these steps.

Instructions

1. Polish your jewelry with a soft cloth. If your jewelry has become slightly tarnished, attempt to polish it with a cloth made of cotton. Using any other type of fabric as a polishing cloth may damage your jewelry. Any dirt that is remaining on your jewelry from previous attempts at cleaning can scratch your piece of jewelry. When polishing, rub your jewelry with straight, direct strokes. You will likely scratch your jewelry is you use circular motions.

2. Use a cleaner to remove stubborn tarnish. While it is possible to use baking soda or toothpaste to clean your jewelry, it is not recommended. The first recommended cleaner is a trusted sterling silver cleaner. However, a home substitute can be used by combining one half cup of warm water and a small bit of mild liquid detergent. A soft brush may be used to apply the cleaner and to scrub hard to reach areas.

3. Store your jewelry. Once dry, store your sterling silver jewelry in an air tight plastic bag. If this isn't possible, store your jewelry in a velvet lined jewelry box, away from jewelry of other metals.

Tell If A Rolex Watch Is Real Or A Fake

,

A Rolex watch is a symbol of wealth to many people. As a result, there are many counterfeits being made and sold. The best replicas can stump even those who are knowledgeable about the brand. If you want to be sure you are buying the real thing, make your purchase from a reputable dealer who is listed on the Rolex website. If you're checking out a used model or eying a friend's, there are signs you can look for to help you spot a fake.

Instructions

1. Evaluate the source. A reputable jeweler or a fine watch dealer is probably going to be selling the genuine article. A man with a market stall selling them for much less than the usual market price is usually selling something either stolen or fake. Pawn shops are something of a mixed bag because they depend on the scruples of the individual shop.

2. Check the magnification. Many Rolex watches have a magnification panel over the date display. Fake watches have what appears to be a magnification panel, but is only plain glass or is a lower magnification, resulting in a smaller date.

3. Take off the back to see whether the case and innards are all made of metal. Counterfeits generally use plastic because it is much cheaper to produce. Some fakes have a plastic inner case underneath a metal outer casing.

4. Listen to the second hand. The second hand on most cheaper watches is what makes the ticking sound as it jerkily moves along. Rolex and other fine watches do not tick because the second hand cleanly sweeps around rather than jerking along. Better counterfeits may not tick, but the motion is still likely to be rougher than a Rolex would be.

5. Look for the stamp. Many fakes have some kind of obvious giveaway that makes them stand out. For example, many Rolex fakes have "Made in China" stamped inside them. Similarly, many fakes use faux leather for the straps or fake gemstones.

Prom Tuxedo Ideas

,

For a high school student, prom is one of the highlights of the high school experience. In most cases, prom is the first formal event you'll attend in your life. Choosing the right color and style of tuxedo to wear to your prom is mostly a matter of personal fashion preference. Here are some prom tux ideas for you to consider.

Choosing Your Tux Style

The most important thing to do is find out the color of your prom date's dress. This is because your vest or cummerbund and your tie should match your prom date's dress. In some cases, if your date agrees, your tuxedo can be the same color as your date's dress. From this point, you can play around with different tuxedo styles. Choose a tuxedo that fits your personality, so that you'll be comfortable wearing it. The traditional look is a black tux, white shirt, gray vest, black shoes and black bow tie. With a traditional tux, you don't necessarily have to wear a vest. You can change your tux jacket to white if you want to add a little flair to the traditional look. If you want to go with a bold look, try a retro tux. Retro tuxes recall styles that were popular in the 1970s and '80s. Retro tuxes come in many pastel colors, such as baby blue and different shades of pink. If you feel more comfortable with a modern tux, your tux jacket will be a little longer and you can still play around with different colors. You can choose different tie options like a hand tie, bow tie, windsor or ascot.

Tuxedo Considerations

After deciding the type of tux you want, get measured. Most stores like Men's Wearhouse allow you to rent a tuxedo. If you're not planning on wearing a tuxedo again in the near future, it's probably a good idea to rent. It's much cheaper to rent than to buy a tuxedo. Most stores have tuxedo rental packages that include your shirt, vest, the suit, cummerbund, cuff links and tie. You may be given the option to buy or rent your shoes. If you want to wear a retro suit, chances are you're going to have to buy the suit, tie, vest, shoes and other accessories. Make sure you reserve your tux at least one month prior to your prom.

Cummerbunds

A cummerbund is a piece of pleated fabric that wraps around your belt line. Choosing between a cummerbund and a vest is more a matter of style and personal preference. A cummerbund is considered more elegant than a vest. Your cummerbund and tie should be the same color. Cummerbunds and ties come in a variety of colors, ranging from traditional black to orange or mint green. It will cost a little more to rent or buy a cummerbund, in lieu of a vest.

Sew On A Graduation Gown Collar

,

Sew on a Graduation Gown Collar

Senior ring. Senior picture. Graduation announcements. After long years of studying and hard work, graduation is right around the corner. There's a problem; when you tried on your cap and gown, the collar kept sliding off your shoulders. The last thing you want as a memory of graduation is your collar falling to the floor just as you are handed your diploma. This can be prevented simply, by sewing the collar to the graduation gown. You don't have to stitch the whole collar, just enough to hold it in place.

Instructions

1. Try on the graduation gown. If the clothes worn under the graduation gown will affect the drape of the collar, be sure to put on the shirt or dress as well

2. Put the collar over the graduation gown. If special honor ribbons are going to be worn with the gown, put those on as well. Adjust the gown, collar and special ribbons until they are hanging properly.

3. Safety pin the collar and ribbons to the graduation gown. Pin only along the back of the collar. If the collar hangs low in back, then pin along the top of the shoulders of the gown. Remove the gown and collar.

4. Sew the collar to the graduation gown. From the underside of the gown, insert the needle through the gown and through the bottom of the collar; do not pierce the top of the collar. Angle the needle downward, back through a nearby section of the collar and through the gown. Continue sewing along the back---or shoulders---of the collar, inserting a back stitch periodically to lock the stitches.

5. Try on the graduation gown again to make sure that the gown and collar hang properly. If they don't, remove the stitches, readjust the collar and stitch it again.

What Shoes Look Good On Overweight Men

,

Small, flat shoes such as these sneakers are unflattering if you are overweight.

Many men go through periods of being overweight during their adult lives, and during these periods it can be tricky to find clothing and footwear that is not only functional but also looks good. As the basis of your posture and gait, shoes are a particularly important part of your outfit and can make a real difference as to whether you're looking good or not.

Big shoes

Bigger shoes make your legs, and the rest of your body, look relatively smaller. It's all about proportion. This is one reason why curvy women often look great in massive boots. While thigh-high biker boots might not be your style, choosing chunky, solid footwear--whatever the style--will flatter your body shape and play down that extra weight.

Supportive shoes

How you look is not just about what you're wearing but also about how you move. The most flattering shoes for an overweight man are those that allow him to walk and move around comfortably and freely. For all types of shoes, including sneakers, it's important to find a pair that has excellent support and is truly comfortable to walk in. Don't buy shoes that are uncomfortable or that make you walk flat-footed or waddle uncomfortably. Comfortable, supportive shoes may also make walking and other physical activity more enjoyable, which could help you lose weight.

Shoes to avoid

Smaller and unsupportive shoes are unflattering for overweight people. Shoes to avoid in these categories include most sandals, and especially flip-flops, which offer little or no support and exaggerate the size of your legs. Flat-soled skater-type shoes also don't usually offer the necessary support, while skinny fabric sneakers will make your feet look smaller--and therefore make the rest of your body look bigger.

Measure A Suit

,

A proper fitting suit will give you a more professional aura.

Suits can be comfortable when you have the correct size and not everyone does. What some people do not realize is that it is fairly easy to measure a suit to make sure you get the proper fit. You can save time and money by measuring a suit to make sure you have the proper size and fit for you.

Instructions

Measure For A Suit

1. Measure for the jacket first. Taking the measuring tape, measure the width of the shoulders of the jacket. Be sure to write it down so you do not have to go by memory alone. Now measure the chest. Taking the tape, measure around the fullest part, placing the tape close up under the arms.

2. Measure for the jacket sleeves. Taking the tape, measure from the top of the shoulder to your desired wrist area. How long would you like the sleeve to be? Measure to that length. Lastly, for the jacket, measure the length. Using the tape, measure from your the bottom of your throat all the way down to your desired length, usually just around the crotch area. Now write down these measurements and you have your jacket measurements.

3. Measure for the suit pants. Taking the tape, measure around your waist but make sure you can fit a finger between the tape. Jot down your waist measurement.

4. Measure for the suit pant inseam. Using your tape, measure the top of the leg on the inside at the crotch down to the middle of the foot or your desired length. Now jot down this measurement and you will be able to determine the size of the suit specifically suited for your body.
