Make A Brim Straight

,

Styles change. What is popular this year may not be popular next year. For a long time, hats, particularly baseball caps, were worn with the brim curved to fit the face, enough so that many hats came with the brim already curved rather than make the owner do it. Of course curving the brim is easy, just hold it in a curved position with rubber bands and a softball or newspaper until the brim remains that way. Flattening the brim can be just as easy, keep it in a flat position until it holds.

Instructions

1. Set the iron to a low setting and wait for it to heat up. While an iron can be used to flat a hat brim, just like most other articles of clothing, the heat should be kept low as the material on the brim is delicate and will easily burn.

2. Iron the brim until it is flat.

3. Place the hat on a surface where the brim will be kept flat. Put a stack of books or other heavy object atop every part of the brim.

4. Keep the weights on the hat for at least one hour. Once the time has passed, the brim should be flat. If it isn't, repeat the process of ironing and placing the brim under something heavy.
