Identify a Seiko Watch by the Serial Number

Seiko Watch Corporation has been designing and manufacturing quality watches since 1881. Each Seiko watch has a unique serial number that can be used to identify the specific series, model and year of the watch. Because Seiko produces a variety of designs, styles and brands, the serial number becomes the main identification tag for each product. Although the serial number may be difficult to see unless you use a light and a magnifying glass, deciphering the model number will help you identify a genuine Seiko watch.

Instructions

1. Find the serial number. Turn the watch face-down on a microfiber cloth so the back of the watch is facing upwards. Take the magnifying glass and scan the edges and back plate for an engraved series of letters and numbers. Write down the numbers for your reference.

2. Look at the last four digits. The last four digits represent the model number of your Seiko watch.

3. Visit the Seiko website's watch finder (see References). Enter your model number in the top left-hand corner. Information will come up about your Seiko watch, such as collection, series, features, price and innovative technology used in the watch.
