A new suit should fit you perfectly.
Formal occasions like weddings usually require that you wear a suit. If you do not already own a suit, and want to purchase one online or order from a catalog you will need to know your suit size. You can find out your suit size from home using a measuring tape, the help of a friend and sizing charts provided in the catalog or by the online company.
Instructions
1. Use a flexible measuring tape to get the measurement for the inseam of your suit pants. Take the measurement from the inside of the thigh, starting at the groin and stopping at the point below your ankle where you want the hem of your pants to stop.
2. Measure your waist. The waist size of a suit is measured around your belly button, not below.
3. Place the tape measure around the base of your neck. Insert two fingers inside the measuring tape against your neck. This will make sure that the suit fits comfortably.
4. Get a measurement for the sleeve length of your suit jacket. Start by putting your hand on your hip with your elbow slightly bent. Put the tape measure on the back of your neck in the center and bring it down your shoulder. Continue moving the tape measure down your arm until you get to your wrist. You may need someone to help you to get an accurate measurement.
5. Match your measurements to the sizing chart for the particular brand of suit you are purchasing. These are typically found on the company's website. While many of these sizing charts are the same, play it safe and check each chart. Some brands have differing charts, based on the style of the suits they produce.
