Select A Tuxedo For A Wedding

,

A tuxedo is a classic and traditional wedding choice.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life and you want to look your best. Choosing the right tuxedo for you might seem daunting at first, but by breaking down the process into simple steps you won't be overwhelmed. Just as a bride does when picking out a wedding dress, investigate your options before trying on any tuxes.

Instructions

Select a Tuxedo for a Wedding

1. Decide which features you're interested in. So you won't be overwhelmed, investigate the many details before you get to the store. Look at pictures in magazines to narrow down the styles you like.

2. Investigate the various styles of tuxedo jackets. Morning dress jackets are the most formal, with a single waist-height button. They taper down past your waist at the back. Dinner jackets tend to be white or ivory and are good for summer or more casual weddings. A tuxedo with tails has a longer back than front and looks very formal. Traditional tuxedos are gray or black and have a single waist-high button.

3. A shawl collar.

Choose your lapel style. Notched lapels have a V-shaped cut pointing toward the collar. A shawl collar has a continuously tapering line and help create a vertical line. Peaked lapels have two points of fabric pointing upward, near to the collar.

4. This man is wearing a waistcoat.

Choose between wearing a waistcoat beneath your tuxedo or a cummerbund. Avoid a cummerbund if you are stocky, as it emphasizes the largest part of your body. Also avoid one if you are short; it would make you look shorter.

5. Go to stores and try on tuxes, with the help of the staff. Bring the shoes you intend to wear on the wedding day to the store so you can try them on with the tuxes. If your fiancee can't attend the fitting, take pictures so you can compare styles with her later. Ask about tailoring costs if you feel something could be altered to fit you better. Choose something in which you look good and you're comfortable.
