Instructions

Designing T-Shirts with Your Own Drawings

1. Prep the T-shirt by washing it as directed by the transfer instructions. Iron the T-shirts to get rid of any resulting wrinkles.

2. Set up your work area on a large table like the kitchen table.

3. Draw your design on the sketch pad. You'll want to make sure that the area around the drawing is really clean on your paper. Any tiny flecks of graphite powder should be erased off the drawing. Try to keep your hands off the paper as much as possible. When you scan the drawing, those things will show up on the scan.

4. Scan your drawing into your computer. You'll want the dots per inch (dpi) to be at least 300, but 600 is better. Although this will make the initial file quite large, the scan will be crisper and the file size can be reduced once the initial scan is done. Save the file.

5. Reduce to 300 dpi using Adobe Photoshop or another graphics program like Paint if you've scanned the drawing into the computer at 600 dpi .If the drawing didn't scan in as clean you'd like, you can clean it up using tools like Photoshop's eraser tool. Once you're done, save the file.

6. Place some of the transfer paper into the print and print off the artwork onto the transfer paper.

7. Line up the transferred drawing onto the T-shirt. Make sure it's straight.

8. Iron the transfer onto the T-shirt. Be sure the follow the package instructions to ensure the transfer works correctly. Let cool.

9. Tape a large sheet of wax paper onto the cardboard using the masking tape. Make sure the whole surface area of the cardboard is covered. The wax paper will provide protection to the shirt in a later step.

10. Place the cardboard protected with the wax paper inside the T-shirt. The wax paper side should be directly under the transfer.

11. Pour some of the Delta Ceramcoat Textile Medium into the bowl.

12. Apply three coats of the textile medium to the drawing. "Paint" all the way to the edges of the drawing so that the entire transfer is covered with textile medium. This will set the transfer. Let the textile medium dry between coats. Wait a week before wearing or washing again.
