Sew A Button On Shorts

,

It's easy to sew a button on shorts.

When you pop a button on your shorts, the solution is a quick fix. You don't need a sewing machine or any special sewing talent. With a basic needle, thread, and scissors, you can mend your shorts and put them back into your working wardrobe in just a few minutes.

Instructions

1. Select a button to sew onto your shorts, or use the button that came off. If you must replace the button, measure the buttonhole and purchase a button with a diameter that will fit snugly through the buttonhole.

2. Thread the needle with a 15-inch length of thread. Pull the thread through the needle eye to make a double thickness of thread, and tie a knot in the ends of the threads.

3. Position the new button where the old button was.

4. Insert the needle through the inside of the shorts fabric and through a hole in the button. Pull the needle through until the knot on the end of the thread stops you from pulling further. Insert the needle back down another hole in the button to the inside of the shorts fabric.

5. Insert the needle back up through the first hole in the button and back down through the second hole. Stitch through the same two holes of the button five or six times.

6. If the button has four holes, stitch the remaining two holes using the same technique.

7. Tie a knot in the thread on the inside of the shorts fabric, positioning the knot snugly against the fabric. Cut off the remaining thread.
