Figure Out My Shirt Size

,

Measure yourself for a well-fitting shirt.

Ordering shirts online has one significant disadvantage: It can be hard to find your correct size. If you've ordered the wrong size, you may find yourself returning it, giving it away, or paying extra for tailoring. As shirt sizing varies from company to company, it's best not to rely upon the shirt size you typically wear. The chances of being able to wear your new shirt once you've received it will increase if you take some time to measure yourself in advance.

Instructions

1. Measure your neck, arms, and waist if you are a man. Use a tape measure to measure the circumference of your neck. Keeping your arm at your side, measure from the back of your neck down your shoulder and arm to your wrist. Measure the circumference of your waist. Take note of the measurements.

2. Measure your bust size, if you are a woman. Use a tape measure to measure around the fullest part of your bust. Take note of the measurement.

3. Consult the shirt sizing chart of the company you are ordering from. Using the measurements you have just taken, match them as closely as possible with those listed on the chart.

Make A Strapless Tshirt Dress

,

Make a Strapless T-Shirt Dress

Turning a T-shirt into a strapless dress is a quick and simple process. If you cut the sleeves and the collar off the shirt, you are left with a rectangular piece of fabric that already has seams and a hem. All you need is an elastic band to hold the dress up. Make sure the T-shirt is large enough to hang just above your knees or to whatever length you prefer.

Instructions

1. Cut the sleeves including their seams off the T-shirt. Cut off the collar and top of the T-shirt, leaving as much of the T-shirt in tact as possible. You should be left with a rectangular piece of fabric, except for the slight curves left behind by the sleeves.

2. Cut one of the detached sleeves along its remaining seam. Open the sleeve to form a rectangle of material. Repeat for the other sleeve.

3. Sew the ends of the two sleeves together to form a long band that can wrap around your body just above your chest.

4. Sew up the sides of the T-shirt where the sleeves used to be. Taper the seam as you stitch from the top of the T-shirt to the end of the arm hole to avoid puckers.

5. Place the band of fabric made from the sleeves around the top of the inside of the T-shirt. Line up the top edge of the band with the top edge of the T-shirt and sew them together.

6. Pull the attached band of material up and over the outside of the dress so it resembles a ruffle.

7. Stitch a line parallel to the top fold of the dress to create a channel that is wide enough to accommodate the width of the elastic. Stop stitching about 1/2 inch from the place where you started.

8. Thread the elastic through the channel. Knot the ends of the elastic together.

Identify A Tiffany Watch By Maker & Serial Number

,

Tiffany watches will have the Tiffany & Co. engraving on the back.

Tiffany watches contain real jewels and silver and always bear the mark of the company name and metal content. You can inspect your watch for the make and model in order to identify it as an authentic Tiffany watch. It's important to identify it as real because, unless you purchased it directly from Tiffany & Co., there is a possibility that it could be a fake. There are many online sellers offering fake Tiffany watches and other jewelry.

Instructions

1. Inspect the watch links if there are any. Tiffany jewelry links are soldered together, and you should not be able to tell where the link ends or begins. If the link is pinched together or if the soldered mark is obvious, it is not an authentic Tiffany watch. The watch should also be heavy to hold.

2. Look for the Tiffany & Co mark engraved into the watch. This marking is engraved into all Tiffany jewelry, along with the metal mark.

3. Look for the date engraved on the Tiffany watch. The date the watch was trademarked, along with the logo, is commonly engraved onto the piece.

4. Look for the signature of the back of the watch. Certain makers of Tiffany jewelry, such as Elsa Peretti, Paloma Picasso or Frank Gehry, bear the signature of the maker on the watch piece.

5. Identify the metal content by the number that appears on the watch. The metal content is located next to the Tiffany & Co. name.

6. Look up the information you gathered (see Resources) and compare your watch to the Tiffany & Co. collection. Or consult a book such as the "Complete Price Guide to Watches" by Cookie Shugart, which may be available at your library.

Formal Dress Ideas For A Couple

,

Coordinating colors is one idea for a couple.

When a couple coordinate their style and clothing, they can certainly make a statement. Sometimes men will wear a tuxedo or a suit, and the woman will wear a dress of her choice. But in situation where a couple want to complement each other with what they're wearing, a formal style of clothing makes it easy.

Black

Black is often considered to be a formal color, as in a black tie event. Here, men will wear a tuxedo and women a long or formal dress. The couple can both wear black. If the man is wearing a white shirt with a black tuxedo, the woman could wear a black dress with a pop of white, such as a sash or scarf. This will look formal and coordinated with all black and a splash of white for both.

White

If it's an ultraformal event, also known as a white tie event, it will call for men to wear a white shirt, white bow tie, white waistcoat and a black tailcoat. Another idea for a couple is for the woman to wear all-white to complement the white accents of his suit. She would wear a white formal dress, complete with white shoes. Naturally, it would depend on the event as to whether it's appropriate for the woman to wear white. For example, even if it's a formal wedding, the bride should be the one wearing the white dress.

Bright Colors

In the formal event that calls for the woman to wear a cocktail dress, it could be a stylish idea to match the dress with the man's tie. For example, if she wears a bright red cocktail dress, he could wear an all black suit with a bright red tie. This is a way of coordinating a stylish look even though they are not wearing the same color. The dash of color with the red tie will complement her dress and look pulled together as a couple.

Business Formal

If it's a business formal event, a one-color, well-tailored suit is the expected attire for men. In this case, dark brown or navy blue is acceptable in addition to black. As a couple, one idea would be for him to wear a navy blue suit with a light blue tie and she could wear a light blue dress. The different shades of blue being worn together would make a tasteful fashion statement.

Types Of Cuff Link

,

Double-sided cuff links were worn at the Palace of Versailles during King Louis XIV's reign.

"Cuff links are certainly a statement accessory for men," said luxury brand expert Ashish Nair. "They give a sense of refinement in one's dressing." The 16th century accessory is still a classic men's accessory today that comes in many different shapes and sizes, running the gamut from plain affordable to diamond-encrusted expensive.

Double-Faced

Double-faced cuff links, which are also referred to as dumbbells or shank-style cuff links, are considered very formal. These cuff links have two similar-sized faces that connect with a metal bar. This cuff link style surged to the front of all men's fashion store windows in the early 1900s. These cuff links were most popularly worn in the U.S.

Chain

Chain cuff links are similar to double-faced cuff links, except that the faces are connected with a chain, instead of a metal bar. Typically, a small metal plate is hung from the chain with an engraved logo or with the wearer's initials. This type of cuff link is the original cuff link design, and allows for a looser cuff due to the flexibility of the chain.

Snap-On

Snap-on cuff links, also called double-sided snaps, have two faces that snap together to hold the cuff in place. These cuff links were very popular from the early 1900s to the 1930s, when flamboyant fashions were the rage during the Jazz Age and the Roaring Twenties. Snap-on cuff links are hard to find today, but there are some cuff link factories that continue to manufacture the vintage accessories.

Push Through

Push-through cuff links have a single face with a rounded end that is pushed through the cuff link hole. They are very easy to put on, but can fall or slide off. This type of cuff link is typically more affordable than others because of its simple design. The push-through cuff link is very popular in the U.S. because of its convenience and affordable price.

Hinged Back

Hinged-back cuff links feature a swiveling bar that is attached to the cuff link. Once the cuff link is pushed through the cuff link hole, you can twist the hinged back to lock the cuff link in place. The most popular hinged-back cuff links are bullet backs and toggle backs, which can be flipped vertically 90 degrees so that the back lines up with the posts, and makes it easy to be inserted through the cuff link holes.

The whale back closure resembles a straight post with a flat "whale tail," for the closure. The whale back closure can be flipped horizontally to secure the cuff link in place.

Wear Denims to Work

,
If casual Fridays are what you look forward to, just so you can wear your preferred pair of comfortable denims at work, this article may help you plenty.

Formal use and denims do not normally go together and you do not want your manager to get noticeable those strong couple of pants in a meeting- awkward! But here are ways you can in fact use denims to perform without having to give up that marketing.

Wear Jeans to Work

Size Matters
If you must wear denims to office, be sure they are not too loose or too tight. Loose jeans are far from being formal while tight ones just look wrong. You do not want to look slack at work. Go for straight-fits or straight leg cuts and since you are replacing your trousers with denims, the only rights you can do is keep the fit akin to that of your formal pants.

Team Scheme
Denims teamed with a button down shirt or dress shirt is a good way to start your official look. To improve it further, wear a official blazer and be sure about shade of your denims with your blazer. Accessories with a skinny tie and your outfit will be apt for any official event at work or outside. You can even wear a jacket with your shirt or a turtle neck T-shirt with your blazer and denims.

Shady Pair
The most preferable shade of denims to wear at work is a darker one. Wearing light blue denims can look a bit too informal and unpleasant. Dark shades maintain the official dress code when combined with a nicely ironed clothing. Do not still think that a cleaned out or attractive pair of denims can be used to work. Your boss may re-consider choosing you if he sees you in one of those sketchy denims! Single toned shades are the way to go that are a little bit on the darker part.

Accessories Right
The idea is to balance your not so official denims with official accessories like a tie, leather belt with a formal buckle, cufflink or a business bag. This will take the attention away from the casual side and focus more on the formal side of your outfit.

Shoe Story
Now, denims can be integrated in your work wear if joined properly. But wearing denims for pants and sneakers for shoes is forcing your luck. As you require to maintain your official look, pair your denims with brogues or saddle shoes that are stylish, smart and official enough to get you through the daily conferences.
