Onan is a subsidiary of Cummins and produces a variety of generators for marine use, recreational vehicles and commercial and residential uses in addition to portable generators. Cummins Onan generators are gas or propane operated, but there are also a few diesel and hydraulic commercial models.
RS Series 13AC
The residential model number 13AC of the RS series is powered by natural gas and propane. Possessing a quiet operation, this unit features Internet remote monitoring and email notification. Equipped with an electronic governor that allows more precise frequency control, the 13AC also has self-diagnostic capabilities. For full utilization of the generator's power, the automatic load management system controls nonessential household loads automatically. The 13AC requires no concrete pad under the unit as it is equipped with a molded polymer installation base. This model generator is capable of running a four-ton air conditioner. The dimensions of the 13AC: 53 inches long, 43 inches wide and almost 35 inches high. The unit weighs about 460 pounds.
P2927 Portable Generator
This Cummins Onan model number P2927 portable generator is gas powered, running at 2,700 Watts and 2,900 Watts peak power. At half load, the unit will operate for almost 12 hours continuously. Equipped with a manual start and a four-stroke overhead-valve engine, the P2927 produces 6.5 horsepower. The generator has automatic low-oil shutdown capabilities and a large gas tank capacity at 4 gallons. Also equipped with a heavy-duty cast-iron cylinder sleeve and circuit breaker protection, the P2927 is designed with a safety frame encompassing the entire perimeter. The P2927 measures a little over 23 inches long, almost 19 inches wide and 18 inches high and weighs approximately 99 pounds.
Commercial QG 2800
The QG 2800 generator is constructed for commercial use and is powered by gasoline or liquid propane. Equipped with an enclosed muffler, adjustable mechanical governor and automatic choke, this generator is designed with a sheet steel drip-controlling base. The QG 2800 has a mounted control panel, low-oil shutdown, electric start, overhead valves and engine air preheat. It also features solid-state ignition and a magnetic circuit breaker. This generator measures 24 inches long by about 16 1/2 inches wide and 12 1/4 inches in height and weighs about 113 pounds.
