The fade cut is one of the most popular among men
The fade cut is one of the most popular haircuts for men. In the fade cut, the hair is longer on top and gets shorter as you progress toward the neck. The fade cut gets its name because the hair appears to "fade" away. To get a good fade cut, you'll need to use clipper guards of varying sizes and blend the hair together as you cut different lengths.
Instructions
1. Use the 1/4 clipper guard to cut the hair on top of the head, front to back, all the way down to about one to two inches above the ear. Use short upward and outward movements.
2. Switch the 1/8 razor guard and begin at the bottom of the hairline by the ears. Clip the hair using an upward and outward movement, starting at the hairline by the face and moving around the head front to back. Cut to about one to two inches above the ear.
3. Clean up the lines. Avoid a "hard" line of hair where you switched clipper guards. Use a comb and the 1/8 clippers to make short outward cuts to blend the shorter and longer hair together.
4. Use the 1/16 clippers, starting at the bottom of the hairline at the neck and moving up. This size will allow a very short, almost skin-smooth cut. Work upwards slowly and "fade" the hair so at the end, the entire haircut is blended and seamless.
